Potomac River Running Stores Kick Off All-Comer's Group Run Program Monday, April 28
By Cathy Pugsley
April 27, 2008
For the Washington Running Report

Potomac River Running announces the official 2008 kick off of its All-Comer's Group Run program. Starting next Monday, April 28, evening group runs will be offered at three of the company's four locations: Monday evenings in Arlington at the new Potomac River Running Arlington location (in Ballston); Tuesday evenings in Ashburn, and Wednesday evenings in Reston at Reston Town Center. Runs from all locations begin at 6:30 PM.

The Program is run in cooperation with area running clubs and training groups - Team Z in Arlington, the Ashburn Area Running Club in Ashburn, and Reston Runners in Reston. Runs are up to fifty minutes in duration and run on an out-and-back course. "We've held group fun runs in Ashburn and Reston for quite some time and had a core group of dedicated runners who continued through the winter months. Now that the weather is good and it stays light later, we're excited to reinvigorate these programs and to add a program at our new Arlington location," said Potomac River Running owner Ray Pugsley. "We've had over fifty runners at some sessions in the past, and we hope for even greater numbers this year. It's a great opportunity to get a workout in after work and socialize with other runners at the same time."

Relationships with local clubs and groups provides leadership for these runs and help increase attendance. "It's a great opportunity for runners of all levels," Potomac River Running owner Brendan Shapiro stated. "We truly mean all-comers. With a strong core of participants, new runners are likely to find someone at their pace and ability level. The out-and-back format also enables everyone to start and finish together even if they run different speeds and thus cover varied distances."

To promote the official kick-off next week, Potomac River Running will be providing a free Dri-Release shirt to all runners who attend any of the three runs. In addition, the Arlington Run, dubbed "the Ballston Crawl" will be followed by a free happy hour on-site. Various additional giveaways and prizes will be awarded throughout the summer for frequent participation, and from time to time the runs are followed by seminars or social opportunities.

Ample parking is available at all locations for runners attending these runs, and the Arlington run is Metro accessible. Runners should arrive a few minutes before 6:30 PM. Potomac River Running also offers various other programs for runners with specific race or training goals.
