$1,200 Cash Purse!
In celebration of their 50th Anniversary, Opus East is hosting a 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk to benefit the National Center for Children and Families at 9:00 am on Sunday, September 14. The brand-new USATF-certified course is flat and fast, and starts and ends at Opus headquarters on Gaither Road in Rockville.

Jim Lee, President and COO of Opus East, announced that the Opus Anniversary 5K Run/Walk will be completely underwritten by Opus East. One hundred percent of sponsorship and registration proceeds will benefit the National Center for Children and Families (NCCF). Opus East has designated the gift for the construction and outfitting of a Conference Room in NCCF's new White Volunteer and Training Center. According to NCCF Executive Director, Sheryl Brissett-Chapman, "NCCF is delighted to partner with Opus on this important project. The new facility will extend our reach further into the community and allow us to provide better service to vulnerable children and their parents."

The 1 Mile Fun Walk will make this a family-friendly and family-fun event. Adults and children will enjoy refreshments, entertainment, and random prize drawings.

The 5K race offers a $1,200 cash purse, with first-place male and female finishers receiving $300 each, second-place finishers receiving $200, and third place finishers receiving $100. Merchandise awards and gift certificates will be awarded to first and second finishers in five-year age categories. All registrants and volunteers will receive a free race t-shirt.

Register online! It's fast and easy, and you will receive an instant confirmation of your entry. Or, you may register in person in the lobby of the Opus East building, 2099 Gaither Road, Rockville (just off Shady Grove Road; easy access from I-270) at the following times:

Friday, September 12, 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm
Saturday, September 13, 11 am to 3 pm
Sunday, September 14, beginning at 7:30 am.

A printable entry form is available, too. Just print it out, fill it in completely and legibly, and mail or fax it to the address or fax number indicated on the form. Or, bring it with you to on-site registration. You'll save time with the entry already filled out.

For more details, visit the race Web site.

Persons wishing to volunteer should contact Elise Goede, NCCF's Volunteer Coordinator, at (301) 365-4480, ext. 113.
