For the Washington Running Report

The YMCA Loudoun County is pleased to announce Harris Teeter as the continuing title sponsor for Leesburg 10K & 20K race. The 20th annual event will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2008 at 7:30 am, at Market Station in Leesburg.

The race will once again have a technical t-shirt this year with a new, cool, cow logo that will be revealed on August 8th at the race packet pick-up!

As soon as the 10K and 20K runners clear the start line, children of all ages will line up for the Kids Fun Run. No registration is needed for the Kids Run. In recognition of the 20th Anniversary race, all participants in the Kids Fun Run will receive a mini cow bell!

And for the adults in the race, the goodie bags will be backpack-style, reusable nylon bags in celebration of the 20th running of the race.

Stay after the race for the post-race festivities! The famous cow bells will be awarded to the top three overall finishers in both races, and to the top three runners (male and female, 10K and 20K) in five-year age groups. The awards ceremonies will also feature additional prizes and random give-a-ways.

Capital Running Company will debut its new ChronoTrack race timing system, which uses a disposable tag system to record a net time for each runner.

Support your local hospitals. There will be a bloodmobile available during and after the race from Invoa Blood Donor Services. If you would like to donate blood, please call 866-bloodsavers. Appointments are appreciated, walk-ins are welcomed.
