Join us for the fourth year of what has become an annual
tradition to view the holiday decorations in downtown DC. This
run (not race!) was originally organized by a small group of
runners as a friendly excuse to run, see the lights, and get
into the holiday spirit. Each year the event grows in numbers
and we already have over 100 runners signed up for CLR 2005!
CLR is a free fun run at a relaxed pace.
Where: Union Station, Washington DC (Red line metro), inside
the main entrance.
When: Wednesday, December 14th at 7PM (rain, snow, or shine)
Register online: www.christmaslightrun.com
What Do We Do?
Everyone runs, enjoys the lights, and sings Christmas Carols.
Most runners wear some type of Christmas gear; in the past we've
had Santas, Elves, reindeer, and many others wearing Santa Hats,
Elf Hats, antlers and blinking lights. Use your imagination and
show your holiday spirit!
What's New?
This year we have introduced a walking group (Dashers) in
addition to our two pace groups (Blitzens and Comets). We hope
this will allow more people to enjoy this growing tradition. All
are welcome to enjoy this wonderful event and we are expecting
this year to be our biggest yet.
Is it True CLR is Free?
Yes, when we started this event in 2002, we decided this is our
gift to all the runners out there.
What Do I Get for Participating?
Jingle bells will be handed out prior to the run to tie to your
shoes. We'll also have handy pocket-size song lists and course
maps. Sorry, no t-shirts will be available this year in order to
keep this event free.
Where Do We Run?
We meet inside the main entrance to Union Station, and run near
the downtown shopping areas, to the Ellipse, past the Sculpture
Garden ice skating rink and back to Union Station. A course map
will be posted to the web site shortly and copies will be handed
out the night of the run!
Note: we will be running after dark so all runners are
strongly advised to wear reflective gear and bright clothing.
Please do not attempt to run if you have health problems.
Organizers will not be held responsible for any health-related
problems or injuries/accidents that occur on the course. Use
your own discretion and stay safe!
