2nd Annual Loudoun County Race Series Wraps Up 2008 Season

Six premier events in Loudoun County, Virginia, joined together
in 2008 to continue the Loudoun County Race Series. The series
began with the Van Metre 5-Mile Run for Children's Hospital
(March 15); continued through the spring and summer with the
LAWS Run for the Shelter Half-Marathon & 5K (April 20); the
Potomac River Running Twilight Festival 4-Miler (June 28); and
the Harris Teeter YMCA Loudoun County Leesburg 10K & 20K
(August 10); and concluded with two fall races - Stone Ridge 5K
Race for Education (October 18) and the Freeze Your Gizzard 5K
on November 22 - the newest edition to the race series.
Awards were earned through participation and by accumulating
points. 4 Race Participants (Participated in 4 of the 6 races, earning
a commemorative medal): Adria Jewell, Amy Wood, Corina Birr, Craig Wickmann, Dawn
Snodgrass, Greg Birr, James Copperthite, Karolyn Bako, Kevin
Knight, Kris, Hurd, Kristin Wedemeyer, Brad Wedemeyer, Fred
Puhan, Matthew Grinnell, Michael Jones, Ria Barrows, Robert
Gurtler, Shauna Skerman, Shima Behnamian, Tom Theus, Trace-Ann
Green, Chris Sheaffer, Ed Ramirez, Michelle Cunningham, Mike
Saunders, Rob Schlegel, Ryan Belote, Ryan Kula, Stephanie
Kelly, Tabitha Riley.
Those who completed five events added a
$10 gift certificate to Potomac River Running Store (Ashburn, Burke, Reston,
Arlington, and Cleveland Park). Beth Nagel, Katherine Kula, Leslie Kash, Mike Snodgrass, Punkin
Lee, Sherry Puhan, Stacy Baron, Thomas Yearwood, James Moreland. Participation in all 6 events earned a commemorative long
sleeve technical t-shirt in addition to the gift certificate
and medal. Congratulations to
the 29 participants who completed all the races in the series
and earned the shirt: Men - Alan Riggs, Brian Kelly, David Haber, Donald Matheson,
Felix Tanh, Gary Daum, Ted Stoecker, Terry Caskey, Tommy Welti,
Trevor Caskey, Chris Murray, John Winkert, Matt Mcivor, Richard
Pittman, Ronny Van Dyke, and Patrick Todd. Women - Anna Van Dyke, Carol Roxbrough, Connie Jordan, Debra
Allen, Erica Stoecker, Katherine Riley, Lisa Kelly, Lynn Bobb,
Marcie Fuller, Shannon Scalan, Susie Barry, Amanda Todd, Kathy
Lutman. The top 3 men and women points earners (minimum participation
of 3 events, points earned for a top 25 finish) are listed
below. The winning male and female will receive a certificate
for a free pair of shoes from Potomac River Running Store:
Men: 1st (Steve Crane, 30 points--Free Pair of Shoes), 2nd
(Abiyot Abebe, 28 points), 3rd (Justin Fritzius, 27 points) Women: 1st (Michelle Cunningham, 24 points--Free Pair of
Shoes), 2nd (Linda Foley, 19 points), 3rd (Laura Turner, 16
points)
Participation awards were distributed on-site in Leesburg after
the Freeze Your Gizzard race in November. Remaining awards will
be available at Potomac River Running Store's Ashburn location
through January 31, 2009. Any awards not picked up at that time
will be sent via USPS. Please try to stop by if you can to help
us save on postage. Please notify us if you would like to
transfer your award to another Potomac River Running Store
