The Kentlands Community Foundation announced today that online
registration will open on June 15 for its 15th Annual
Kentlands/Lakelands 5K Run, Walk and Kids Fun Runs, scheduled
for Saturday, August 30, 2008. The event is hosted by the
Kentlands Community Foundation in partnership with the City of
Gaithersburg.
The Labor Day weekend event will feature a newly-designed
course, giving participants the opportunity to experience the
best in new urbanist communities as they wind through both the
Kentlands and Lakelands neighborhoods. Local bands will play
along the route. The event includes a 5K Run and Walk, two Kids
Fun Runs, and the well-renowned Post-Race Festival at the newly-
designed Market Street Plaza.
The Foundation is excited to announce that this year the annual
5K event will also serve as the opening activity for the 2008
Maryland Senior Olympic Games, being held at various venues
throughout Montgomery County. The top three male and female
finishers in age groups 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70+
will qualify to compete in the 2009 National Senior Olympic
Games in San Francisco, CA.
