For the Washington Running Report

1,000 Runners are expected to participate in November 2, 2008 race in West Potomac Park, Washington, DC. Sponsorships are now available.

Welz & Weisel Communications, a strategic public relations firm 100 percent focused on creating awareness and credibility campaigns for information technology companies, today announced that the inaugural Run! Geek! Run! 8K event will take place on Sunday, November 2, 2008 at 8:00 a.m. in West Potomac Park, Washington, DC. All proceeds will go to support the Equal Footing Foundation, a Virginia based 501(C)(3) nonprofit focused on youth development and education and is the charitable arm of the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC).

Run! Greek! Run! 8K starts and finishes in West Potomac Park, a national park in Washington D.C. and home to famous monuments such as the FDR Memorial, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial and the Reflecting Pool. This is a flat, fast, out-and- back course and is a ChampionChip-timed event supported by the Capital Running Company. Awards will be given to runners in five-year age group brackets and there will also be a corporate team challenge. Following the race there will be a post-run gala with music, food and drinks.

"Equal Footing Foundation partners with area corporate sponsors, local government and business partners to help fund, launch and sustain Computer Clubhouses that currently serve over 1,500 youth, many of whom do not have access to technology at home, in six locations," said Colleen Hahn, President and Executive Director of Equal Footing Foundation. "For the avid, or not so avid runners, it is a great chance to get outside and enjoy the day while supporting a worthy cause with other runners and technology geeks."

Sponsorships for this event provide companies and organizations an opportunity to give back to the local community while receiving visibility in front of the greater technology, government and business community. A list of sponsorship opportunities is outlined at the end of the release. Organization's interested in becoming a sponsor should contact Evan Weisel at 703-218-3555 or at evan@w2comm.com. Current sponsors include 1105 Government Information Group, American Eagle, NVTC, Young Design, and Welz & Weisel Communications.

"The race offers the local technology community a unique forum for networking, team building, and most importantly, raising money for the children of Equal Footing Foundation," said Evan Weisel, Race Director and Principal of Welz & Weisel Communications. "I believe that this event will become one of the most successful charity races in the Washington, DC area by tapping into the generous resources of the local technology community."

About Equal Footing Foundation:

Equal Footing Foundation, the charitable arm of the Northern Virginia Technology Council, is a Virginia based 501(C)(3) nonprofit focused on youth development and education. The Foundation's goal is to provide an equal opportunity environment where youth can access the tools needed to successfully compete in a skilled and educated workforce. To achieve this, Equal Footing Foundation funds, launches and sustains Computer Clubhouses in partnership with local governments, businesses and other non- profit entities. These Computer Clubhouse programs are centrally located within established community centers, in close proximity to schools and bus routes for easy after school access. The result is an innovative and safe after-school learning center where children ages 8-18, many of whom do not have access to technology at home, work with adult mentors to learn, develop, and explore their potential.
