PVTC to Host Spanish-English Track & Field Training Program

Potomac Valley Track Club (PVTC) today announced plans for the
Washington area's first Spanish-English language track & field
training program, to begin Sunday, April 22, at Madison High
School in Vienna VA.

www.pvtc.org/spanish.html Coaching the program is Roger Manzur, El Salvadoran national
record holder at high jump and 110-meter hurdles and four-time
national decathlon champion. Athletes coached by Manzur hold
national records in the long jump, high jump, triple jump, pole
vault, shot-put, javelin, discus, heptathlon, decathlon,

In addition to Manzur, English-language coaches Craig Chasse,
Jen Stephens, Jay Jacob Wind, and others will assist. The
program is open to both children and adults of all levels of
abilities, both Spanish and English speakers. The program will
include jumps, throws, hurdles, and sprints, for both
beginning, intermediate, and advanced athletes.
The inaugural program includes five training sessions:
Sunday, April 22 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Madison High School,
2500 James Madison Drive, Vienna, VA

Sunday, May 6 at 9:00 a.m. to noon at Langley High School, 6520

Sunday, May 13 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Madison High School

conjunction with PVTC's all-comers track & field meet
The cost for five training sessions is $20 for members of PVTC,
or $40 for non-members, which includes membership in PVTC.

Chasse. "This program widens our world and helps fulfill our
mission to provide training year-round to people of all ages,
all paces, all ways."

for this program," said club secretary Jay Jacob Wind. "We look
forward to learning from Coach Manzur to excel at multiple
events."
PVTC conducts track & field meets throughout the spring and
summer at Langley High School and indoor meets at Arlington's
Thomas Jefferson Community Center in winter. PVTC conducts a
youth training program in Arlington in autumn and distance
events on roads and trails all year.
