The Loudoun Therapeutic Riding Foundation in Leesburg, Virginia

Races Cross Country 5K and Family Fun Mile. These races will be
held on Saturday, June 16, 2007 on the beautiful grounds of
Morven Park in Leesburg, VA. The races will start and finish in
front of the mansion and follow equestrian trails with
some "obstacles" for fun. There will also be a Family Fun Mile
held after the 5K. Themed awards, food, t-shirts, tours of the
Carriage House Museum, and visits with LTRF's therapy horses
will ensure a wonderful morning on the historic Morven Park
grounds! Entry fees are $25 for the 5K pre-race, $30 race day, and $10
for the Family Fun Mile. You can register
online or visit the Loudoun Therapeutic
Riding Foundation
Web site
and click on "A Day at the Races."
Therapeutic riding is widely recognized as one of the most
beneficial forms of recreational therapy for people with
disabilities. Horseback riding develops self-awareness, builds
self-confidence, improves concentration and increases self-
discipline. Riding also strengthens and relaxes muscles;
improves posture, balance and coordination; and increases joint
mobility. On or off the horse, the program also improves
attitude and self image. Working toward these goals carries
over into improved function in all activities of daily living.LTRF's program is growing as the need for its services is
growing across the county. All proceeds from the race will
benefit the Foundation's programs and services, ensuring the
continued support to those in our community who benefit
immensely from riding therapy.
