The Ethiopian express rolled into York, as did great November weather.

A seven man pack broke away from the rest of the race early, and was cut to three by mile four. Alene Reta had the best kick and won it in 23:39, three seconds ahead of NYC Marathon pacemaker Julius Kibet, and ten seconds up on Demesee Tefera.

The womens race developed into a duel between Teraza Yohannes ETH and Elena Orlova RUS, Yohannes finish in 27:59 six second up on Orlova's 28:05.

The following day, the weather changed. In the pouring rain, with increasing chill and howling winds at the Veterans Day 10K, Elena Orlova was moved up a place to win in 35:57 at West Potomac Park, Washington, DC. Denisa Costescu's reprise was again third place in 37:08.
