2006 Army Ten-Miler Has Something for Everyone

The 22nd Annual Army Ten-Miler, America's largest 10-mile race, attracts 24,000 runners from all over the world to participate in a jam. It is a packed weekend of activities. However, race weekend is not just for the runners - there is something for everyone!

Below is a list of various race weekend activities - they are FREE and open to the public.

Army Ten-Miler Race Expo presented by Spring! by Dannon

Expo hours are Friday, October 6 from 3:00 pm - 9:00 pm and Saturday, October 7 from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. There are great prices on running apparel, running shoes, nutritional supplements, and other items. Army Ten-Miler Race Expo presented by Spring! by Dannon is held at the Crystal Gateway Marriott, in Arlington, VA.

Clinics

Four different clinics by Olympic and champion runners, a long- distance running coach, and a running shoe expert will be held at various times on Friday and Saturday covering training topics, motivation techniques, gate analysis and more.

Race Day Activities - Pentagon South Parking Lot, Sunday, October 8 beginning at 8:00 am.

Classic Rock 94.7 at the Arrow Post Race Party

Celebrate and join thousands of runners for the Classic Rock 94.7 Post Race Party in the main staging area at the Awards/Entertainment Stage. Join the Capital of Classic Rock for live music, door prizes, and lots of fun!

HOOAH Tent Zone

The Army Ten-Miler is all HOOAH! The HTZ is unique to the Army Ten-Miler, a place where Army teams from around the world show their spirit, celebrate the race, and enjoy the post race festivities. Visit over fifty tents! Walk along the Avenues of the Army and interact with soldiers from around the world. An award will be given for the best HOOAH tent on the Award Stage.

Health Net Federal Services Youth Runs

Come cheer on the kids! After completion of the Army Ten-Miler, it is time for the Health Net Federal Services Youth Runs. Parents and kids in grades K-3 will participate in a 100-meter run. Kids in grades 4 thru 8 will participate in a 200-meter run. These are non-competitive runs and all participants receive a special finisher medal. Runs start at approximately 10:45 am.

Health Net Federal Services Youth Activity Zone

The Youth Activity Zone is better than ever this year - fun for kids and adults alike! This year's Youth Zone is packed with activities featuring: The DC Divas, Washington DC's National Women's Football Association team and the 2006 NWFA championship winners of the Super Bowl of women's football; The GEICO Gecko; Washington's funniest and most magical entertainer, The Great Zucchini; Fort Myer Fire & Emergency Services, fire truck will be on display and fire personnel will be on hand with goodies ; Army Racing Displays - Check out the NASCAR show car, Army Dragster show car and Army Bikes; Youth Run Warm-Up - led by Fitness Image Results; The Hill, an attraction that brings out the kid in everyone! This unique sports experience has a slide, basketball hoops, a scaling wall and much more!

The 22nd annual Army Ten-Miler starts at 7:50 am with the Missing Parts in Action Team and the wheelchair start. The co- lead sponsors for the 2006 event are the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) and KBR.
