For the Washington Running Report

The 2006 Under Armour Baltimore Running Festival begins at noon on Thursday, October 12 with the opening of the Elite Sportsclub Network Health and Fitness Expo and culminates at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 14 when the last runner crosses the finish line.

The 2006 Under Armour Baltimore Running Festival, which consists of the Under Armour Baltimore Marathon, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Half-Marathon, United Way 5K, Legg Mason Funds Team Relay, and Kids' Fun Run, has generated more than 60 million dollars in revenue for the city and more thanr 2.5 million dollars for local charities.

The sixth annual event has more than 11,000 runners registered, which betters last year's record-setting mark. The CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Half-Marathon has been sold out for nearly two months, while the United Way 5K is close to being filled for the third straight year.

The Under Armour Baltimore Running Festival is produced by Corrigan Sports Enterprises, a leader in sports promotions in the Baltimore/Washington DC region. Founded in 1991, CSE owns and operates the following events: Under Armour Baltimore Marathon, The Charm City Challenge All-Star Basketball Game, The Capital Classic, the Toyota Pro Beach Volleyball Tour, the Thrash & Jam Tour presented by Slammers Ultimate Milk, and the annual Baltimore BikeJam event.
