For the Washington Running Report

On October 9, 2006, the Road Runners Club of America is pleased to announce the launch of our newly, re-designed Web site.

The Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) has adopted online registration and custom web site tools provided by The Active Network ("Active") to reach 175,000 of its members throughout the United States. Through this agreement, Active will become the Official Technology Partner of the RRCA.

The primary goal of the RRCA - Active partnership is to provide a portfolio of customized technology solutions that benefit RRCA clubs and events. From online registration, management of volunteer data, marketing and web services and online fundraising, RRCA member clubs and events will be able to manage all of their on-line needs with Active.

"Active is leading the way on innovative on-line services geared towards active individuals", explains Jean Knaack, RRCA executive director. "As a major supporter and promoter of long distance running, the RRCA is very proud to join forces with Active to provide the best technology solutions for our members."

"The opportunity to partner with RRCA and to provide them with the technology to streamline their registration and create a centralized membership database for all 740 clubs was an opportunity that we didn't want to pass up", stated Jon Belmonte, chief operating officer of The Active Network, Inc. "We want to not only increase online registration and participation for RRCA but also re-affirm Active's commitment and support of all local and regional events and clubs."

"I'm really proud of the new site," explains Jean Knaack, executive director. "There is useful information on the site for running clubs, events, and individual runners. The images at the top of the site are supposed to make you feel like you are out on a long run, or inspire you to get out on the road after visiting the site. The new site would not be possible without the dedication of our webmaster, Warren Finke. I thank him profusely for the time and effort spent on bringing our visitors the new web site."

To navigate through the site, visitors will simply find the information they are seeking from the navigation bar at the top of the web site and click on the desired page.

The new site has new web pages including ABOUT RRCA where visitors can find information about the mission, the history, and the general business of the organization. Supporters can even make a contribution to the RRCA. Under the link RUNNING, our visitors will find the new FREE service provided by the RRCA where individuals can log on and track their mileage. To motivate and reward runners, the RRCA has re-launched the Personal Fitness Program in coordination with the new website. Look here for information about the new program.

During the month of October, the RRCA has announced several great partnerships that benefit our members as well as the organization. For information about our new partnership with Active.com, visit www.rrca.org/services/online or Active Sports.

The new web site contains many of the same great features from the old site such as RRCA News, club and event listing, along with information about RRCA programs, services, membership, benefits and more.

We invite you and your members to visit our new site and to spend time learning more about the RRCA.
