Female American Marathon Record Holder to Speak

Deena Drossin of Team USA California
The Marine Corps Marathon announced that U.S. female marathon
record holder, Deena Drossin, will be the featured speaker at
the
Mueller's Marine Corps Marathon Pasta Party on Saturday, October
25, 2003 at 6:30 p.m. As marathon participants carbo-load the
night before the big event, Drossin will share her marathon
experiences and offer advice for completing the 26.2 mile run.A member of the Team USA training group based in southern
California,
Drossin took the American female record held by Joan Benoit-
Samuelson at the London Marathon
in April, 2003 with a time of 2:21:16. In 2002, she also broke
the
female world record for the 5K in Carlsbad, CA with a time
of 14:54 and the American female track record for 10,000 meters
at
the Stanford Invitational with a time of 30:52.32.
Drossin lives and trains in Mammoth Lakes with
Team USA
California members, logging over 100
miles per week under Coach Joe Vigil; she recently married
Andrew Kastor and has a canine partner
named Aspen, a labrador.
Drossin's appearance at the Marine Corps Marathon is presented
by Tylenol 8 Hour.
