Deena Drossin of Team USA California
The Marine Corps Marathon announced that U.S. female marathon record holder, Deena Drossin, will be the featured speaker at the Mueller's Marine Corps Marathon Pasta Party on Saturday, October 25, 2003 at 6:30 p.m. As marathon participants carbo-load the night before the big event, Drossin will share her marathon experiences and offer advice for completing the 26.2 mile run.

A member of the Team USA training group based in southern California, Drossin took the American female record held by Joan Benoit- Samuelson at the London Marathon in April, 2003 with a time of 2:21:16. In 2002, she also broke the female world record for the 5K in Carlsbad, CA with a time of 14:54 and the American female track record for 10,000 meters at the Stanford Invitational with a time of 30:52.32.

Drossin lives and trains in Mammoth Lakes with Team USA California members, logging over 100 miles per week under Coach Joe Vigil; she recently married Andrew Kastor and has a canine partner named Aspen, a labrador. Drossin's appearance at the Marine Corps Marathon is presented by Tylenol 8 Hour.
