2nd annual Run For It 2K Walk & 5K Run/Walk
By Diane Hinkle
September 12, 2008
Tucker County, WV in the Canaan Valley
Washington Running Report

It is not exactly a walk in the park, but it is just as easy and a lot more fun. The Tucker Community Foundation is getting ready to host its 2nd annual Run For It event on Saturday, September 27 in Davis, WV. The event is held in conjunction with the Leaf Peepers Festival.

Run For It is a 2K walk/5K walk or run in support of community causes. More than $18,000 will be awarded to the community causes represented by 12 prize winners.

All award money is distributed to the community cause represented by the winner in each category.

The event is an equal opportunity fund raiser. Being fast is not a requirement. Half of the $10 entry fee goes to the participants cause. Last year's event raised over $32,000 for community causes.

Entry forms can be obtained by downloading from the Run For It link on the Foundation web site or by calling the office at 478- 2930. Before September 15, entry forms & fees should be mailed to the Foundation office at P.O. Box 491, Parsons, WV 26287. After September 15, register on site Friday, September 26 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Davis Fire Hall or Saturday morning before 9:30. Organizers are expecting a large turn out on race day. Late entries cannot be guaranteed.

Run For It supports community causes within the Foundation's service area (Barbour, Grant, Preston, Pocahontas, Randolph and Tucker counties). Davis, WV was recently voted one of the Top Ten Coolest Mountain Towns and a favorite tourist destination of DC & NVA residents.
