The 2001 Race
By Barry Glassman
April 2001
Washington, DC

The Cassidy & Pinkard 4th Annual Brain Tumor Society 5K Run & Walk, held on Sunday, April 22, 2001, succeeded in raising over $250,000 to benefit brain tumor research. Race day was beautiful and approximately 3000 participants and supporters gathered on Freedom Plaza at 14th and Pennsylvania Avenue to help find a cure for brain tumors.

The commercial real estate community and many other friends of Pat Cassidy joined in support of this local fundraising effort to support The Brain Tumor Society, headquartered in Boston. Brain tumor research is critically under-funded. Since Mr. Cassidy's diagnosis two years ago, his firm has been the title sponsor of the Washington Brain Tumor Society 5K Run and Walk. The event has been successful in raising nearly $500,000 for brain tumor research.

The Brain Tumor Society, founded in 1992, is a national nonprofit organization which has allocated over $3 million to advance carefully selected scientific research projects.

For information about making a tax-deductible contribution contact Barry Glassman, Co-Chair, Cassidy & Pinkard Brain Tumor Society 5K, at (703) 506-8200 or via e-mail.
