suitable for convention races on weekdays. The list below links
to pages with descriptions of each site.
-
Anacostia Park
Located along the banks of the Anacostia River in Washington,
DC, Anacostia Park offers residents and visitors a variety of
activities and settings.
-
Belle Haven Park (Alexandria, VA)
This park is located in Alexandria, Virginia, just a few miles
south of Old Town, and directly across the Potomac River from
Washington, DC. The course uses a portion of the Mount Vernon
Trail, a hiker-biker trail that runs approximately seventeen
miles from Mount Vernon to Theodore Roosevelt Island. Belle
Haven Park is conveniently located next to the Potomac River,
along the George Washington Memorial Parkway, and features
indoor restroom facilities and ample parking areas.
-
Rock Creek Park
Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC is one of the oldest and
largest urban parks. Its nearly 3,000 acres include streams,
flood plains, woodlands and meadows. It supports a variety of
vegetation and provides a refuge for many animals that could not
normally survive in the city. For most visitors, Rock Creek Park
serves as a green oasis within the concrete and asphalt sprawl
that is the Nation's Capital. It provides the people of the
Washington, D.C. area a retreat from the hustle and bustle of
urban life. An asphalt hiker-biker trail runs the length of the
park and connects with many other unpaved trails. This venue is
best suited for smaller groups whose conventions are held in the
Omni Shoreham, Marriott Wardman Park, or other nearby hotels.
