- Getting ready for the journey and making last minute equipment checks, 206 runners stand on the top of one of the many hills.

- Robert Osterried (33) Sterling, VA ran a strong second overall in 1:28:36, though he was a mile back of winner Larry Bullock.

- Soon to be master Mark Hand (39) of Arlington, VA holds of soon to be grandmaster Bruce Halpin by a six pack of seconds in 1:29:44 for the third overall spot.
- Karsten Brown (31) Front Royal, VA in "shorts!" and gloves is number nine in 1:36:15.
- After the race, runners are "corralled" with chairs so that they can sit down and take their Championchips out of their showlaces.
