On-road and Off-road Events Set for Richmond's National Duathlon Festival

Registration is now open for the 2009 USAT Duathlon National Championships which will return to Richmond as part of the second consecutive National Duathlon Festival set for April 25- 26.

With no qualification requirements to entry, the event is set for multi-sport athletes of all levels. The weekend will combine the USAT Duathlon Age-Group National Championships and the Off-Road Championships in which athletes will be able to compete in on-road or off-road races, or both. In addition to age-group championships, sport races, and youth and junior events will be contested.

On-road duathletes can qualify for one of 12 age group slots available for the ITU Duathlon Short Course World Championships to be held in Concord, NC in September. "Our downtown location provides a thrilling venue for spectators and is within easy walking distance to hotels and restaurants. A renewed commitment to the sport of Duathlon by the local organizing committee and USA Triathlon will surely generate an event to remember in 2009," says Jon Lugbill, Sports Backers, executive director.

Register at www.duathlonnationals.com to take advantage of the low early registration prices.

Call Mike McCormick at 804-285-9495 for more information.
