Online registration is open for the 14th annual LAWS Run for
the Shelter. This year's race returns to the Loudoun County
Fairgrounds on April 19, 2009. Up to one thousand runners are
expected to toe the line in this year's race. The LAWS Half-Marathon is the longest foot race and one of the
signature events in Loudoun County. Runners in both the Half-
Marathon and 5K will cover scenic and rolling courses that take
them under the historic Clark's Gap arch. Sanctioned by the USATF, the Half-Marathon and 5K are also part
of the Loudoun Championship Series, making these races an
excellent opportunity for runners to earn points for
prestigious prizes. The race will again feature the popular kid's dash for children
under 10 years old. The kids' dash is a scenic and fun loop run
around the fairgrounds that promotes fitness. Once again in 2009 all runners will receive a technical running
shirt and open winners in the half-marathon will be eligible
for cash awards. Age group winners will be eligible for gift
certificates to Potomac River Running. All youth who
participate in the kid's dash will receive a medal. Registration fees are $40 for the Half-Marathon, $25 for the
5K, and $10 for the Kids' Fun Run. Race entry fees after April
6, 2009 are $35 for the Half-Marathon and $25 for the 5K until
race day. Race day entry fees are $50 for the Half-Marathon and
$35 for the 5K.
Proceeds from the "Run for the Shelter" benefit LAWS.
Volunteers are also needed for the event. Registration,
volunteer sign-up, and more information are available online at
