By Beth Cline Johnson December 19, 2008 Quantico, VA For the Washington Running Report
In its fourth year as photo partner at the Marine Corps
Marathon, MarathonFoto shot nearly 450,000 photos, a record for
the annual event, held October 26, 2008. Taken throughout the
course, start and finish areas, the 444,130 photos included
assigned images for 22,717 runners or approximately 20 images
per runner, as well as group photos, publicity shots, and more.
The total number of photos was up more than 100,000 from the
336,714 images captured in 2007. "The MCM course features legendary monuments and memorials that
make for wonderful photographs," said Gerald Swanson, Vice
President for Marketing of MarathonFoto. "From M Street in
Georgetown, to the Washington Monument to the famous finish
line at the Marine Corps War Memorial, runners will find
memorable shots they are sure to treasure." The photos and other products from MarathonFoto are accessible
through the MCM Shop, featured on www.marinemarathon.com. Other great holiday gift
ideas for any runner are also available in the MCM Shop,
including artwork created by Crossing the Line, stuffed
keepsakes from Vermont Teddy Bear, MCM-licensed apparel by
Brooks Sports, Inc. and Finisher Plaques designed by Fond
Memories.
