Corrigan Sports Enterprises (CSE), a leader in sports event
management and promotion, announced today that it will now
become a partner of the Frederick Marathon. CSE will assist in
the operation of the Frederick Marathon immediately and will
continue with the existing plans for the scheduled races on May
5th and 6th.
"The people at the Frederick Marathon committee have built a
strong foundation and done a great job getting the event off
the ground," said Lee Corrigan, President of Corrigan Sports
Enterprises. "We are here to take the event to the next level
and introduce thousands of runners to a beautiful part of
Maryland. We see Frederick, Maryland as an exciting emerging
market in the region. We are confident that great things are
ahead for the Frederick Marathon."
"We are thrilled with the new partnership, and know that
together we can grow the Frederick Marathon into a world-class
event," stated race director Rachel Ridgway. "It makes total
sense to combine the knowledge and resources of the two
organizations that put on the two great road racing events in
Maryland's largest cities. We are looking forward to a long,
mutually beneficial relationship."
The Frederick Marathon becomes the second race for CSE, as they
already manage the Under Armour Baltimore Running Festival. The
Baltimore Running Festival, which is heading into year seven,
will take place October 13, 2007. The race saw a record number
of 12,000 participants last year. The Running Festival is one
of the fastest growing races in the country and features
participants from all 50 states and more than 20 countries.
The fifth annual Frederick Marathon weekend will take place May
5-6 and features five races: marathon, progressive marathon,
four-person relay, half-marathon and a twilight 5K. It also
has a Health and Fitness Expo which will serve as the place for
registration and packet pick up. Last year, the event had
nearly 3,000 runners.
Corrigan Sports Enterprises is a leader in sports promotions in
the Baltimore/Washington D.C. region. Founded in 1991, CSE
owns and operates the following events: Under Armour Baltimore
Marathon, The Charm City Challenge, The Capital Classic All-
Star Basketball Game, the Toyota Pro Beach Volleyball Tour, the
Thrash & Jam Pro Skate Tour presented by Slammers Ultimate
Milk, The Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic and the
