Second Annual Nation's Triathlon Set for the Streets of Downtown DC
By Samantha Perry

Washington, DC
For the Washington Running Report

Olympic Distance Event to Provide the World's Most Spectacular Triathlon Route.

The streets of downtown Washington, DC and the waters of the Potomac River will come alive with sound, speed, and passion Saturday, September 29 at 8:00 a.m. when approximately 1,500 triathletes take part in the Second Annual Nation's Triathlon.

The event, an official Olympic Distance triathlon, says founder and organizer Charles (Chuck) Brodsky, will consist of a 1.5 kilometer swim (.93 miles), a 40 kilometer bike ride (24.8 miles) and a 10 kilometer run (6.2 miles). The event is scheduled to begin at the Georgetown Harbor Waterfront and finish at 12th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, winding its way through some of Washington's most recognizable landmarks. The course is one of the most historic and picturesque routes in competition today.

"Triathlons are among the world's fastest-growing sports and DC, with the second largest triathlon club in the nation, is a hotbed of triathlon training," Brodsky said. "And the nature of this event, with its clearly attainable distances, means it will attract both hard-core competitors and general all-around athletes who want the challenge of competing in a triathlon."

Already more than 65 percent full, registration is still available at the event web site at with a closing date of Friday, September 7. The cost for individuals is $150.00, while relay teams of two or three people is $210.00.

For additional information, contact Chuck Brodsky at 202-257-3482.
