Second Annual Germantown 5-Miler
From the official press release
May 6, 2004
Germantown, MD
For the Washington Running Report

Cash Purse Attracts Elite Field
The second Germantown 5-Miler returns to upper Montgomery County on May 22, 2004. The 5-Miler benefits the Germantown branch of the Boys and Girls Club. This family-friendly event, presented by Seneca Creek Community Church, will take place at the Seneca Meadows Corporate Center in Germantown, MD. The 5-miler, a ChampionChip-timed race, begins at 8:30 am. A 2-mile fun run, which allows strollers and dogs, will kick off at 8:40 am.

The top three overall male and female runners in the 5-miler will win cash prizes ($300, $200, and $100). Other prizes have been donated from local businesses and include Brooks Brothers shoes, Fitness First memberships, a Beaux Visages Salon package, oil changes at Cochran Automotive, dinner certificates at Red Robin, Hard Times Cafe, Outback Steakhouse, Agro Dolce, and Corner Bakery, and party packs from Baja Fresh, just to name a few. Random drawings for prizes will be held after the race.

Registration for the 5-miler, which includes a t-shirt, is $20 online until May 16 and registration for the 2-miler is $5. You can also print an entry form and register by mail or fax.

At the end of the run, participants will find homemade baked goods, bagels, and fruit, as well as a moon bounce for the young at heart.

For more information and to register, visit the race Web site.
