A Washington tradition returns on Saturday, June 9, 2007, at
8:00 a.m., the 17th Lawyers Have Heart 10K Run and Fun Walk
presented in partnership by Legal Placements, Inc. and the Law
Firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, LLP. The start and
finish is located at the Washington Harbour at Georgetown.
This is the day our Washington area lawyers set aside briefs
and take opening arguments to the road. This is the time to
rally co-workers, family, and friends...all in support of a
great cause!
Lawyers Have Heart has raised more than $3.7 million to benefit
the American Heart Association, whose mission is to reduce
disability and death from cardiovascular disease (CVD) and
stroke. By participating in this event, you will not only help
to strengthen your own heart through exercise, you will also
help raise funds vital to the education programs and research
of the AHA.
Entry fee starting June 1, 2007 is $40.00. You can save
$10 by registering before May 31, 2007. To register on-line,

Volunteers Needed
All volunteers will receive a classic Lawyers Have Heart T-
shirt, admission to the post-race activities, and are eligible
for random prizes. It is through the support of the volunteer
community that this race is an annual success. Registration is
available online at www.runlhh.org or you may call 703-248-1713.
Extreme Weather Plan: In the event of extreme weather
conditions, the race committee reserves the right to cancel the
race or run it as an untimed "Fun Run" without advance notice.
If this should be necessary: Runners will receive shirts and
packets. Post-race activities will be held. Random prizes will
be announced. Winners' prizes will be converted to random
prizes. No entry fee refunds will be made.
There will be water at the start of the race, as well as two
locations on the course that will be accessible both out and
back.
"The race was a great experience. It was the size that I was
looking for, and the front end talent was very good. It seemed
to be well planned and organized, especially at the start. It
can sometimes be a little hard to ensure that runners line up
at the appropriate pacing group as they all want to be as close
to the start as possible but there were no problems here. This
was perhaps because of the ChampionChip system being employed
ensuring accurate timing for all. It was also good to be able
to run on roads that were closed to traffic as this doesn't
always happen back home," stated Dr. Steven Miller of Glasgow,
Scotland. (He finished 21st 35:07 in his second USA race).
