We regret to inform you of our cancellation of this Sunday's
20th annual DCRRC National Capital 20 & 5 Milers due to
extensive damage to the George Washington Parkway bike trail
caused by last week's hurricane. We have been unable to secure permission for an alternate course
from the National Park Service or local police despite
extraordinary efforts of race directors Chuck Evans and Bob and
Delabian Thurston. We are very disappointed that neither race
can be held. We thank all of you who had planned to run or
volunteer on Sunday. We are very sorry that we can't hold the
race. It's a proud DCRRC tradition.
All registration fees will be refunded. For those who paid by
credit card, your card will either not be charged (if you
registered in the last few days) or you'll see a credit for the
same amount.
For those who paid by check, your check will be
destroyed, as it was not cashed.
As an alternative, the Saturday Long Run group of DCRRC is
meeting at Iwo Jima on Saturday morning (9/27) at 7:00 for a 19
mile run. Please join us! You'll have a group to run with and
still get in your long run. (However, parking at Iwo Jima is
EXTREMELY limited so please plan to get there early or park a
distance away in the neighborhood.)
Please e-mail the
President of DC Road
Runners if you have any questions.
