Healthy Kids Fun Run Welcomes 3,000 Children on October 25
One-mile just for fun event is part of Marine Corps Marathon Weekend

What: The Marine Corps Marathon Healthy Kids Fun Run, a one-
mile, un-timed race
for children ages 6-13 and race day activities for the whole
family.When: Saturday, October 25, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Where: Pentagon North parking lot
Arlington, Virginia Background: Every child is a winner at the Healthy Kids Fun
Run! Children ages
6-13 are invited to participate in the one-mile just-for-fun
event. Registration
is $2 and is available online at www.marinemarathon.com. The run will be held in
three waves beginning at 10:30 a.m., 11:15 a.m., and 12:00 p.m.
During the registration process, parents can choose the wave in
which their child will begin. Parents, families, and runners are invited to visit Camp Miles,
a free all-day
activity area featuring interactive challenges and games
focusing on health
and fitness hosted by the National Children's Museum and
McDonald's. Live
entertainment includes the American Belles and the Ronald
McDonald Get Active
show. Camp Miles activities begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue
until 2:00 p.m.
The top three schools with the most participation in the
Healthy Kids Fun Run
will win the Healthy School award and a financial donation to
their physical
education department from Washington FAMILY magazine.
Participant's school
affiliation is designated as part of registration.
