    Welcome to the 4th annual Suntrust Banks National Marathon and Half Marathon! Join us on Saturday, March 21, 2009 as we change the course of history with our DC inclusive marathon route. Highlighting both the iconic depth of the region and the emergence of new and eclectic neighborhoods, the National Marathon will again place top priority on individualizing each runner's experience. Produced by the Greater Washington Sports Alliance, the race raises funds for eleven local youth investment organizations that use sports to build character, encourage physical fitness and enhance education.

17th Annual Van Metre 5 Mile Run For Children's Hospital

  • 3-28-09 Van Metre 5-Mile Run for Children's Hospital (Broadlands, VA)
    * The Van Metre 5-Mile Run is an event for the entire family. Serious runners, weekend and occasional joggers, walkers, and even strollers (for the One Mile Fun Run/Walk only) of all skill levels are invited to participate. The 5- Mile Run features ChronoTrack timing and team competition. This event has more prizes for children than any other race. The 5 mile course stretches throughout the beautiful Broadlands community. There is also an easy 1 mile course for children and walkers. A new course has been developed since the staging area has moved from the Nature Center to the Broadlands Market Place on Wyndridge Drive. This new shopping center will have plenty of room for parking. About half of the previous course is being used for the new 5 mile route.

Ashburn Village 10K, 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run

  • 4-26-09 Ashburn Village 10K, 5K, & 1 Mile Fun Run (Ashburn, VA)
    In 2008, nearly five hundred runners raced in the 10K, 5K, and 1 mile fun run. Karen Young (39) of Boyds, MD won the 10K for women, while James Dunn (47) of Leesburg, VA was the first to finish for the men. In the shorter race, Michael Vega (29) of Ashburn, VA led all runners, while Joan Hunter (44) of Purcellville, VA won for the women.

    This year the race will have a new course, which will be flat and fast. Also, the advanced ChronoTrack timing system with the dispoable D-tag will be used for fast, accurate results.

    This year's proceeds will be donated in full to the Ashburn Volunteer Fire Department.

We hope that you will join us as we take strides towards enriching the lives of local area children.

    Please join us for what is one of Northern Virginia's best kept secrets - the Cascades 10K Fire Chase. Started in 2003, the race is in its seventh year, the race offers ChampionChip timing, numerous amenities, and is hosted by the Cascades Community Association for the benefit of the Sterling Volunteer Fire Company. The funds raised through sponsorship and entry fees help the Fire Company acquire much-needed equipment.

    (Formerly Capital One Celebrate Children & Youth 8K), this year's race is guaranteed to be fun for the whole family. Our 8K route winds through the neighborhoods around the Fairfax County Government Center and is held in conjunction with the Celebrate Fairfax Fair. The race starts and ends on the Fair grounds. Whether you run the race or to cheer on the runners, please stay to enjoy the sites and sounds of the festival. It will be an unforgettable day for the entire family!

21st Annual YMCA Loudoun County Leesburg 10K & 20K

    Come out to Leesburg and run with the cows! This popular summertime race is a fixture on the Washington, DC area race calendar. The race features ChronoTrack D-Tag disposable timing and 10K and 20K scenic, rolling courses which primarily are on the W&OD Trail. A free kid's fun run, with medals to all finishers, tops off the event. This race is well positioned to be a good training race for runners working on a fall marathon training program.

    Wells Fargo Home Mortgage invites you to join us for our 2nd Annual Run for the Door 5K benefiting Loudoun Habitat for Humanity. This year's event will take place on Sunday, September 13, 2009 in Sterling, VA. There is fun for the whole family with our certified 5K course, our 1K fun run, and post- race festivities including prizes, food and drink, children's activities and an award ceremony for our runners!

    The 1K Fun Run starts at 8:30 AM and the 5K begins at 9:00 AM. Net proceeds will benefit Loudoun Habitat for Humanity. The race features certified course, ChronoTrack timing, awards in ten-year age groups, random prizes, and unique refreshments and entertainment.

Navy Federal 5K Run/Walk

    Now in its 17th year, the Navy Federal Credit Union 5K Run/Walk starts and finishes on their beautiful headquarters campus in Vienna, VA. This race offers runners post-race refreshments, ChronoTrack timing, and random prizes. Net proceeds benefit the Committee for Helping Others.


    Donate a new or gently used clean pair of shoes on race day. Every pair of shoes donated will earn you a raffle ticket into the raffle prize for Movie, Restaurant and Running Store gift certificates. All shoes will be donated to the Committee for Helping Others.
