1. Defending champion Gurmessa Mergessa (28) of Bronx, NY returns and breaks the event record with a scintillating 29:57. Unfortunately, he was three seconds slower than the new record set by Dagne Alemu.


2. Down from Nyack, NY, Art Gunther (36) is sixth overall in 31:01.


3. Sara Lasner (#30) of Washington, DC joins many runners wearing the patriotic Veterans Day racing shirt in the race.

1. Nicholas Owen (#1525) of Falls Church, VA flies after Nicholas Geiger (#1345) of Washington, DC. They flew across the finish mats together in 44:17. Owen's one minute late start moved him up ten places in the chip time scoring.


2. Racing fast for a big man, sixty-two year old Norm Coleman of Chevy Chase, MD rumbles after the top spot in his division a mere thirty meters in front of him. His fine race took forty three minutes and forty seconds.


3. Sarah Carr (32) of Washington, DC churns for a coveted spot at the finish.

1. Jason Dwyer (28) of Arlington, VA finishes just out of the Top Ten money with an excellent 32:13. His age group win is almost as good as cash, a $50 gift certificate and a Veterans Day Sweatshirt.


2. Long and lean Catherine Dale (39) of Washington, DC leads a large group of hopefuls, including Cheryl Young in her division. Dale held her off in 44:46 to earn the two spot in the sub masters.


3. Sean Dixon (40) of Upper Marlboro, MD was one of the many runners sporting the Fleet Feet logo.
