Come Live, Love, Run the Winter in Virginia Beach again and celebrate Valentine’s Day weekend with someone special at the 4th Annual Virginia is for Lovers 14K and 1.4 Miler on Saturday, February 11, 2012. This unique distance race starts outside the Virginia Beach Sportsplex and winds its way through the Farm Bureau Live amphitheater before finishing inside the Virginia Beach Field House, where you can warm up with a tasty burrito from Moe’s Southwest Grill, rehydrate with plenty of Yuengling beverage, and listen and dance to live music. You can enter to run or walk the 14K by yourself, or you can be one half of a 14K couples relay team. You and your Valentine’s sweetheart can also enter the 14K as a couple’s team. All 14K finishers receive a surprise gift, and the ladies all receive Valentine’s Day flowers! Mark your calendars for three days of family fitness fun as we get set to celebrate the 40th Annual Yuengling Shamrock Marathon Weekend March 16-18, 2012, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. As the Shamrock Marathon turns 40 years old, we are preparing the biggest and most festive event ever! There is something for every member of the family as the weekend includes the marathon, the Anthem Half Marathon, the TowneBank 8K, the Middle School 8K Challenge, the Operation Smile Final Mile, and the 26.2 yard Children’s Marathon. If you are feeling extra energetic, take part in the Dolphin or Whale Challenge, where you run in the 8K on Saturday (St. Patrick’s Day) and then either the half or full marathon on Sunday. Also part of the festivities is a large, 2-day sports and fitness expo packed with vendors and exhibitors at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. Finishers of all the races receive a unique medal, and those who finish the half and full marathons will leave with some special finisher’s gifts. Awaiting everyone at the finish line on both days is one of the best post-race parties in America, featuring plenty of Murphy’s Irish stew, Yuengling beverages, free live music, and lots of dancing and partying under the big top or on the beach. The Chris4Life Colon Cancer Foundation is pleased to announce the 7th Annual Scope It Out 5K Run/Walk for Colon Cancer Awareness will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 25, 2012 in the heart of downtown Washington, DC. The race will kick off at Freedom Plaza (13th & Pennsylvania) and will include a scenic tour of popular DC sites including the National Galley, Newseum, FBI Headquarters, Ford’s Theater, U.S. Botanical Gardens, and the Capitol. The 7th annual event, held during National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, is expected to attract more than 5,000 participants. The race continues to grow each year with a 2012 goal of raising $500,000 in race proceeds which will be donated to Chris4Life. Scope It Out 5K is one of the fastest growing races in the region and one of the largest annual colon cancer awareness events in the country.

The races start at 8:30 am. Be a part of this special event to raise awareness and crucial funding to support CASA volunteers as they advocate for every abused and neglected child in our community.

3rd Annual Alexandria Running Festival Half Marathon, Half Marathon Relay, and 5K

The Alexandria Running Festival is a runners event. The festival includes a Half Marathon, Half Marathon Relay, and 5K in Alexandria through the Holmes Run and Brenman Park area. This scenic course is mostly flat and shaded providing a combination of trails, parks, and road running. Music, post-race food, awards, and random prizes will be provided after the race. Colorful technical shirt go to all, as well as medals to half marathon finishers. Bring your family and enjoy the Memorial Day weekend. Visit our expo on Saturday, obtain some valuable running and fitness knowledge, and then sight see with your family. The National Trust for Historic Preservation has named Alexandria to the list of 2012 Dozen Distinctive Destinations.
Ringing In Hope Walk, Run, & Fun: 10K & 5K Race, 1K Walk, and Family Fun Activities
Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend and support participating area charities (to be announced) by taking part in our event. The 10K & 5K races start at 10:00 AM with the 1K walk starting shortly thereafter. The race starts near the Telos building in Ashburn, VA. Race day registration is available on Saturday, but short-sleeved t-shirts are guaranteed to those that pre-register before race day.
Participants who register for the 1K Walk will receive bells instead of a t-shirt.
Run Amuck 3.5 Mile

Runners meet the challenge of obstacles, mud pits, a water exchange, and more beginning at 7:00 a.m. Kids Run Amuck, beginning at 9:00 a.m. offers younger participants their own messy, muddy race.

Let Freedom Run 5K Run/Walk & 1K Fun Run

Make way for the second Let Freedom 5K Run/Walk & 1K Fun Run. The race gets underway this year on Wednesday, July 4th as we celebrates the nation's birthday. This event will utilize the same great course used by the Goblin Gallop in the fall. Runners get to take a fun-filled roller coaster ride around Fairfax Corner with a super fast final half mile finish. The 5K starts at 8:00 a.m. and the 1K Fun Run starts at 9:00 a.m. This is a family-friendly event with Capital Running Company's standard awards structure of abundant prizes, 5 year age groups, as well as a 4th of July theme. The annual Marine Corps Marathon Healthy Kids Fun Run will be held on October 27, 2012 in the Pentagon North Parking Lot. Children ages 6-13 are invited to participate in the one-mile just-for-fun event. Registration will open online April 4. All participants receive a t-shirt, medal and snacks at the finish line.

I was told this was one of the greatest things ever experienced and I absolutely agree. We all cried at different times for so many reasons. The emotion of the day was totally unexpected. The popular Capital Running Company Veterans Day 10K continues for the 13th year in Washington, DC. A 2.25 mile fun walk makes the event a real family affair. Held in West Potomac Park, it is the same great race, ChronoTrack timed, with a fast cruise around Hains Point and awards to the top three male and female finishers in five-year age groups to 80 & older.

Turkey Trot 10K/One-Miler
