- Michael Wardian (#24) of Arlington led a pack of three through two miles in 9:41, as eventual winner Ben Cooke (number obstructed) and Kyle Smits (#3) follow in close pursuit.
- With a half mile to go, Ben Cooke (#2) surges up Firehouse Lane followed closely by training partner Kyle Smits (#3), as Michael Wardian attempts to hang on.
- Cooke puts the hammer down in the final quarter mile to finish first male overall in 14:52, smashing Troy Harry's one-year-old course record by 34 seconds.
- Atalelech Ketema of Washington, DC pours it on in the homestretch, as 42-year-old David Hagga (#516) of Rockville follows closely behind. Ketema averaged 5:26 per mile to finish first female overall in 16:51, eclipsing Naoko Ishibe's 17:14 course record set last year.

- Curtis Davis of Gaithersburg finished in 17:58, for 4th place in the 40-44 age group, while his 6-year-old son, Miles, completed his first Kentlands/Lakelands Kids Fun Run. The last time Curtis raced with Bill Rodgers was 1989 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
- New MCRRC club member Steve Vaughn is thrilled to shake hands with Bill Rodgers.
