The Washington RunHers, a club dedicated to promoting women's running in the Washington metropolitan area, is kicking off their 2009 women's summer track program on Tuesday, May 5th. The RunHers track program is designed for female runners of all abilities who are already running regularly who want to improve their running form, speed and fitness. The coaches, Al Logie and John Rusinko, divide the participants into small groups of similar ability and design each week's workout for the various groups' abilities. The workouts are challenging but fun.
Workouts are held weekly from 6:15 - 8:00 p.m., rain or shine, at Wakefield High School at 4901 S. Chesterfield Road, Arlington, VA (a short drive from 395 near Shirlington and Skyline). The track program costs $135. This is a one-time, non-refundable fee for members of the Washington RunHers. Prospective participants who are not sure the program is right for them are encouraged to come to the first workout on May 5th to give it a try. This first workout will include an introduction to the program where the coaches will provide an overview of the track program followed by a slightly abbreviated workout.
Due to the popularity of this unique track program, it is anticipated that it will fill up by early May. Prospective participants are encouraged to check out the club's website at www.washingtonrunhers.org for the complete program details.
