Online Registration is open for the second annual Brain Aneurysm Race for Awareness 8K in memory of Timothy P. Susco. The race will occur at South Lakes High School on October 17, 2009 at 9:00 am. The Susco family will again host the race to bring awareness about the effects of brain aneurysms and to support both the Brain Aneurysm Foundation and the Washington Regional Transplant Community.
Â
The race, which is sanctioned by USATF, offers a competitive 8K that occurs on roads along a rolling, scenic course that starts and ends at South Lakes High School. There is also a 2K fun run for all ages that winds its way along tree-covered paths around the school. In addition, American record-holder in the men's mile, Alan Webb, will be in attendance, adding to the race festivities.
Â
Due to the popularity of last year's inaugural race, race organizers expect more than 1,000 runners to compete in both events, so early registration is advised. Cash prizes will be awarded to top three male and female finishers in the 8K and the top two finishers in each of the 5-year age group categories will win gift certificates to Metro Run/Walk, the official running shoe and apparel store of the race. Dozens of spectators and volunteers will be present along the routes and at the finish. For more information, please visit the race site at www.susco8K.com.
