Michael Wardian is Men's Runner Up in USA 50 Mile Trail Championships; Krupicka & Semick Win Titles

Anton Krupicka of Colorado Springs, CO dominated the men's field on his way to defending his title at the USA 50 Mile Trail Championships on Saturday, July 25 at the White River 50 Mile Run held in Crystal Mountain, WA. Krupicka's winning time of 6:32:09 set a new course record by 34 seconds. IAU World Champion Kami Semick of Bend, OR easily won the women's race in 7:57:35.
2009 USA 50K champion Michael Wardian (photo at left by Brightroom, taken at 2009 Shamrock Marathon) of Arlington, VA finished second in 6:51:50, and Greg Crowther of Seattle, WA took third in 7:02:03. Click Here to view a photo taken by Glenn Tachiyama of Michael Wardian at mile 37.The women's race saw Prudence L'Heureux of Tahoe City, CA place second in 8:19:53, and Ellen Parker of Seattle, WA was third in 8:48:56.
The race also served as the masters championship with William Emerson of Portland, OR winning in 7:19:43, while 43-year-old Kami Semick also won the women's master's division.
This is the ninth year that the White River 50 Mile has served as the USA 50 Mile Trail Championships.
