The 2010 Marathon Bahamas will be held on Sunday, February 14, with additional events to include a half marathon and a marathon relay. Mr. Franklyn Wilson, Chairman of Sunshine Insurance, made the announcement (photo below) on October 20 in the Bahamas; Sunshine Insurance will serve as the lead organizer and major sponsor.
The Marathon Bahamas will be an annual event that attracts runners from throughout the Bahamas. Overseas friends, business colleagues, old school friends, Bahamians living abroad, and former residents are encouraged to register for the event and spend a weekend in the Bahamas. The race course will be designed to showcase the beauty of the city of Nassau and New Providence. Registration forms and sponsorship information will be available from Sunshine Insurance.
Mr. Frank "Pancho" Rahming, a nationally recognized expert in athletics, has agreed to serve as race director. Leaders in tourism, athletics, finance, and medicine have agreed to serve as founding members of the non-profit Marathon Bahamas board.
