The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM), organizers of the Crossroads 17.75K to be held on June 12, 2010 in Prince William County, Virginia, today recognized Navy Federal Credit Union, Geico, Prince William County/Manassas Convention and Visitors Bureau, Brooks, Mic Ultra, and The News & Messenger as the new event's founding sponsors. The headquarters hotel, located across from the start line on Route 234, is the Hampton Inn Dumfries/Quantico.

"This impressive roster of sponsors demonstrates the trust companies have in the quality and interest in events the Marine Corps Marathon organizes," said Marc Goldman, Marine Corps Marathon Sponsorship/Marketing Manager. "The Crossroads 17.75K is a great opportunity to work with some long time partners in a different venue and to acquaint the runners with new sponsors in a unique setting."

Brooks and Navy Federal Credit Union have sponsored the MCM for more than ten years. Mic Ultra has long been present with a sampling booth at the MCM and Historic Half marathon finish lines. Geico is an original presenting sponsor of both, the Historic Half and the MCM Event Series, held aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico.

Registration for the Crossroads 17.75K costs $45. The unique race distance of 17.75K commemorates the year the Marine Corps was founded and equates to 11.03 miles. Participants receive a technical short sleeve shirt. The course begins on Virginia Highway 234 before heading north into Prince William National Forest Park for miles 2.5 to 8. The course reemerges from the forest on Joplin Road, passing under I-95 before turning on Route 1, and finishing at the National Museum of the Marine Corps.

Consistent with the iconic finish of the MCM at the Marine Corps War Memorial, the Crossroads 17.75K will culminate at the Museum, just outside the main gate of Marine Corps Base Quantico, known as the "Crossroads of the Corps." The museum's 210-foot tall mast was inspired by the Iwo Jima flag raisings of World War II. In partnership with the race, the National Museum of the Marine Corps will host runner packet pick-up on Friday, June 11 and then open early on Saturday, June 12 to host the awards ceremony in the Leatherneck Gallery and offer early admittance to all runners and guests. Runners and their families are encouraged to visit Prince William County, known as the "Outdoors Capital of the Capital Region," before and after the event to experience the area's special blend of historic attractions, fine restaurants, distinctive shopping, and pristine natural settings. A special web page dedicated to the Crossroads 17.75K has been added to the visit Prince William County Web site to aid runners in planning their event experience.
