The 11th annual Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10K presented by POWERade has set an event record for the number of participants registered. As of Monday morning, March 1, more than 33,500 were registered, breaking last year's mark of 32,745. More than 1,400 have registered for the First Market Mile Kids Run, which is on pace to surpass the record of 1,891 who entered in 2008.

"The fact that the Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10K continues to grow each year really is a testament to the widespread community support the event receives from the volunteers, bands, spirit groups, sponsors, and the city," said Sports Backers executive director Jon Lugbill. "I encourage everyone that would like to take part in this year's event to sign up soon before we reach our limit of 35,000."

Registration is still open for the March 27, 2010 Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10K, and a total of 35,000 registrants will be accepted. The registration fee for the Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10K is $35, and the First Market Mile Kids Run is $20. Registration is available online at www.sportsbackers.org.
