Participants Can Register to Run While Celebrating a Significant Cause
Through July, runners interested in registering for the sold-out 35th Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) on October 31 can register for the 2010 event through the MCM Charity Partners. With more than 80 charities, the partnership between MCM and the international, national and local charity partners offers marathon participants a wide variety of charitable causes.
By linking to the MCM Charity Partner page at www.marinemarathon.com, runners can directly contact any one of the MCM charity partners for registration, training, and fundraising information. Each charity is responsible for registering marathon participants, while offering different levels of fundraising requirements and goals.
All of the money raised goes to the individual charity.
The 35th MCM sold out in just less than six days. More than 30,000 are registered to run the 26.2 mile event through Arlington and the nation's capital.
Called "The People's Marathon," MCM is the fourth largest in the United States and the eighth largest marathon in the world with runners participating from more than 50 countries.
An entire weekend of MCM events are planned starting with the two-day Health and Fitness Expo on October 29 and 30; the annual Healthy Kids Fun Run for ages 6 to 13 on Saturday, October 30; and the MCM10K (6.2 mile) that begins on the National Mall and finishes with the MCM at the Marine Corps War Memorial in Rosslyn, VA on October 31.
