More than 700 runners will participate in the 35th Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) who have run five or more times in the event. As members of the MCM Runners Club, they receive a guaranteed entry for life to participate in "The People's Marathon" and are being called upon to generate enthusiasm in the next generation of runners. All MCM Runners Club members registered for the October 31 MCM will be invited via e-mail to Inspire a Miler on Saturday, October 30, the day prior to the 35th MCM.

At 9:00 a.m. in the Pentagon North parking lot, just before the start of the Healthy Kids Fun Run, an annual one-mile event for kids ages six to 13, MCM Runners Club members will run a 1.5 mile, untimed course demonstrating their love of running while inspiring the young runners as they prepare for the Healthy Kids Fun Run.

MCM Runners Club members will receive a special bib featuring the number of their most recently achieved five-year plateau.

"Inspire a Miler enhances the MCM's mission to promote physical fitness and community goodwill while perpetuating the future of our sport," says Rick Nealis, MCM race director. "When 3,000 Kids Run participants see the MCM Runners Club members in action, they will realize that this is a sport to be enjoyed throughout your life."

MCM Runners Club members will be required to register for this event. The invitation e-mail details the proper registration procedures.

Children from schools across the United States will participate in the Healthy Kids Fun Run while reaching their one-mile running goal alongside their classmates, siblings, and friends. Online registration for the Healthy Kids Fun Run is available at www.marinemarathon.com. The Healthy Kids Fun Run will include the Camp Miles free family fitness festival that will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Pentagon North Parking lot in Arlington, VA.
