18th Annual Van Metre 5 Mile Run For Children's Hospital

Directions: From the Beltway, follow the Dulles Toll Road West (exit 45-A) to the Dulles Greenway. Take Exit 6 (Route 772 Ashburn/Broadlands exit). Turn left at the end of the exit ramp. Then right onto Wyndridge Drive to the Broadlands Market Place shopping center.

Children's Hospital
Children's National Medical Center ranks among the best pediatric hospitals in the country. Based in Washington, DC, Children's is a nonprofit institution providing total pediatric care to children from birth through 21 years of age regardless of race, creed, or geographic boundary. It is the only regional hospital dedicated exclusively to the care of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. In addition to Children's 279-bed hospital on Michigan Avenue, six regional outpatient centers are located in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia, ensuring the best possible care for children in the entire Metropolitan area and beyond. New and Beginning Runners Information
The ChronoTrack timing system will be used to score the 5 mile race. The system uses a disposable D-tag which must be secured to runners' shoe laces, and records the exact time a runner crosses the starting line as well as the finish line, resulting in a net, or "Chip" time for each runner. Overall awards will be based on the "clock time," and age group awards will be based on "Chip time."
You must wear your ChronoTrack disposable D-tag on your shoe and cross the mats at the start and finish to be scored. If you are unfamiliar with running in a ChronoTrack timed race, please read the article Running in a ChronoTrack Race.

Six premier events in Loudoun County, Virginia have joined together to form the Loudoun Race Series check this page for results from 2009, presented by Potomac River Running stores (Ashburn, Burke, Reston, Arlington). The fourth year for the series opens with the Van Metre 5M on March 6, 2010.

Late Registration
Packet pickup and late registration will take place on Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Potomac River Running store. You may register at the Potomac River Running store and shop for your favorite running shoes and gear! Say hello to Cathy and Ray.

On Friday, March 5, packet pickup and late registration will take place only at the Broadlands Market Place, Wyndridge Drive, Ashburn, outside the Glory Days, from noon to 5:00 p.m.
The registration fee for the 5-Mile is $20 until March 1. After that date, the entry fee for both events is $25 for adults. Both the 5-Mile and the 1 Mile have a $5 fee for children 12 and under all the time.
You may also register on race day at Broadlands Market Place, Ashburn, from 7:30 a.m. until race time. See directions below.
ChronoTrack disposable D-tags will be distributed on race day, near the packet pick-up and registration tables.
Please note: This race is a fundraiser for Children's Hospital and the race organizers will not grant any complimentary entries.
Please review the List of Registered Runners and Walkers before coming to packet pickup or to the race.
Team Registration
If you would like to compete as a team, a minimum of three and a maximum of four runners are required. Each team must have at least one member of each sex. The top three net times will be used to calculate the team score. Immediately after the race all team captains should report to the registration table to report team members' times to ensure that no team members were missed. The registration fee is $50 plus $15 per member (Submit a separate form for each member and send all team forms together.)

One Mile Fun Run/Walk
There is a shorter option for children and adults, a one mile fun run and walk. The one mile begins soon after the Van Metre 5 Mile start at 8:30 a.m.
Children 12 and under can register for either event for $5.

$100 - 3rd place male and female overall

Packet Pick-up
Packet pickup and late registration will take place on Thursday, March 4, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. only at the Potomac River Running store in Ashburn (20630 Ashburn Road #137, Ashburn 20147). On Friday, March 5, packet pickup and late registration will only be at the Broadlands Marketplace, Wyndridge Drive, Ashburn, from noon to 5:00 p.m.
Packets will also be available on race day at the Broadlands Marketplace from 7:30 a.m. until race time.
Results
Complete official results for all participants will be available on the Washington Running Report Web site Results Section no later than the Monday following the race. Results are posted a few hours after the race.
