What better way to start the New Year than running in the 14th annual REHAU Rotary Resolution Race in Leesburg, Virginia?
This popular annual event was started by the Rotary Club of Leesburg in 1998. Since then the Club has donated nearly $200,000 in race proceeds to local charities, and the race has become one of the biggest New Year's Day races in the region.
It features a competitive, ChronoTrack timed 10K race and a 4K Fun Run/Walk. Both start and finish on a grassy hilltop in Ida Lee Park just north of Leesburg, VA. The 10K wanders through the rolling hills of the historic Morven Park, while the 4K takes participants to the magnificent Morven Park mansion. Much of the beautiful course is on grass and dirt or gravel roads, and deer are frequent spectators along the route.
Runners warm up in the Ida Lee Park gymnasium before and after the race to enjoy live music, great food, awards and prizes. (Changing rooms, showers, and lockers are available.) In addition to awards, three deep overall and two deep in the age groups, this race features a number special awards categories. There are prizes for the first male and female finishers in the fun run, the first Leesburg resident in the 10K, the first Rotarian in the 10K, the youngest and oldest participants, and the participant who came the greatest distance. There is a $10 discount for kids aged 7 - 11 and children under 7 are FREE. Add all of that to the shirts for all participants (except kids 6 and younger), and you have got a great way to start the New Year!
