Inaugural Run for the Dream Named a Finalist in the 3rd Annual Classy Awards

The Inaugural Run for the Dream Half Marathon and 8K has been named a finalist in the Classy Awards, the largest philanthropic awards program in the country. Out of thousands of applicants, the event is currently ranked #14 in the “Most Creative Fundraiser by a Charity” category. The Top 10 finalists in each category are eligible for cash awards. The winners will be announced on August 30 and will be honored during an awards ceremony in San Diego in September.
Winners are chosen through an online voting system. Run for the Dream supporters can visit www.stayclassy.org/classy-awards/voting by August 26 to vote for the race. Choose “Most Creative Fundraiser by a Charity” and click on An Achievable Dream to vote.
The inaugural 2011 Run for the Dream was a resounding success and attracted nearly 5,000 runners from across the nation and the globe. During the two day event, participants ran in the Run for the Dream Half Marathon, the Fit to Run, Fit to Dream 8K Run/Walk, and a Kids Fun Run. The combination of races made the weekend a popular choice for families. Early Bird registration is now open for the 2nd Annual Run for the Dream, which will take place in Williamsburg May 19-20, 2012. Information is available at www.RunForAchievableDream.com.
Proceeds from the Run for the Dream benefit An Achievable Dream, a nationally recognized K-12 school dedicated to the belief that all children can learn and succeed regardless of their socioeconomic backgrounds and that education can break the cycle of poverty. The race also benefits military Wounded Warriors programs, dedicated to assisting and advocating for the severely wounded, ill, and injured members of the armed forces and for their families.
