The 2012 MCM Event Series opens for online registration January 25. This is the fifth year of the MCM Event Series of road races that are annually held March through November. In the tradition of the Luck O' the Irish, the Irish Sprint 10K on March 17 will offer all finishers guaranteed entry into the 37th Marine Corps Marathon (MCM). The Irish Sprint 10K (6.2 miles) will be held along the trails and winding paths of scenic Prince William Forest Park in Prince William County, VA.
The coveted MCM entries will be presented as lucky golden tickets to all Irish Sprint 10K runners as they cross the finish. Each ticket will include a special code for runners to claim their guaranteed spot.
"Because the 2011 MCM sold out in just over 28 hours, many local runners will appreciate the opportunity to secure these desired entries in this year's marathon through their participation in the Irish Sprint 10K," says MCM Director Rick Nealis.
The 37th MCM will be held on Sunday, October 28. Registration for the MCM will
open to the public at noon Eastern on March 7. The Irish Sprint 10K will be held just ten days after MCM registration opens and likely sells out.
The 2012 MCM Event Series opens online at noon Eastern on January 25 at www.marinemarathon.com. The Irish Sprint 10K will kick off the 2012 Event
