Local Lady Masters at Millrose Games

The Washington Metro area was well represented by female masters track athletes in the 105th Millrose Games run this year for the first time in the Armory in New York City on Saturday, February 12. Alisa Harvey, 46, from Haymarket, VA, set the ball rolling with a fast 400 Meters in the Women's Club Championship Distance Medley Relay for Riadha, putting her team into 2nd place with a 58 second split. Riadha held that position to come home in 11:32.17.
The Athena Track Club fielded three teams in the Masters Women's 4x400 Relay. Athena W40 A team included Terri Rath, 48, from Ashburn, VA and Charmaine Roberts, 44, from Beltsville, MD. Rath ran the second leg splitting 67.5 while Roberts anchored the team home to 2nd place, with a 61.4 for a final time of 4:23.27. Central Park New Balance A won the race in 4:18.76.
The Athena W50 team finished 3rd overall while beating the listed American & World Indoor 4x400 meter record. Debra Hoffman, 52, Los Altos, CA, Lorraine Jasper, 50, Birchrunville, PA, Julie Hayden, 52, Ashburn, VA and Cheryl Bellaire, 53, Exton, PA combined for a time of 4:27.73. Hoffman, ran an outstanding opening leg of 63 seconds, with Jasper and Hayden hitting 67, and Bellaire closing out in 69.
