Beginning at 3:00 p.m. EST on Wednesday, March 7 registration for the 37th Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) will open online at www.marinemarathon.com. Runners around the world await the opportunity to register for a coveted spot in "The People's Marathon," and secure bragging rights to complete the most celebrated marathon in the Mid Atlantic. Now the fourth largest marathon in the United States and ninth in the world, the MCM experienced record registration sellout last year of 30,000 spots in just over 28 hours.

"There is so much excitement surrounding registration for the Marine Corps Marathon that continues through the day of the event," says Rick Nealis, MCM Director. "With runners from all 50 states and more than 50 countries participating and thousands more spectators, the Marine Corps Marathon is annually the greatest showcase for Northern Virginia and Washington, DC."

During registration, runners will have an opportunity to purchase Brooks men or women's training shirts, a Brooks hat, a discounted photo product from MarathonFoto, the MCM Virtual Training Program, and a ticket to the Carbo Dining In pasta event held the evening before the marathon in October.

Included in the MCM $92 registration fee, all participants will receive a competitor mock neck T-shirt, award-winning finisher's medal, runners bib with B-tag timing device, event program, free access to the Runners Conference, live results, social media tracking program, commemorative patch, hospitality and on-course replenishment, free massage, beer sample, and plenty of entertainment.

In addition, the MCM, in conjunction with GEICO, is offering an exclusive registration savings for all military members serving on active duty or in the Reserves. Military members will receive a 15 percent discount off the full registration cost - paying just $78.20 - by registering from February 23 through March 6. Any service members registering after March 6 will pay the full registration cost.

The 37th MCM, organized by the U.S. Marine Corps, will be held on Sunday, October 28. More information about all the MCM's 2012 events is available at www.marinemarathon.com.
