A limited number of guaranteed entries to the 2009 Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) will be available to runners and guests at the SunTrust National Marathon Health and Fitness Expo. The Washington, DC event is part of a series of special guaranteed registration events for the MCM that will be held across the country and around the world this winter.

Would-be marathoners should visit the Marine Corps Marathon booth at the Health and Fitness Expo on Friday, March 20 between 11:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. The Expo will be held at the DC Armory, located at 2001 East Capitol Street, SE, Washington, DC, 20003. Visitors to the MCM booth will receive an entry code, redeemable online at www.marinemarathon.com.  A limited number of entry codes are available at each event and are expected to go quickly.

"The special registration events offer runners a unique chance to get into the MCM before it opens to the general public," said Rick Nealis, Director. "This is the MCM's way of thanking runners for their dedication not only to the Marine Corps Marathon but to the sport of running."

The 2009 MCM will be held on October 25 in Washington, DC.  Online registration begins at noon eastern on April 1 at www.marinemarathon.com and is open to runners ages 14 and older on a first come, first served basis.  The race field is limited to 30,000 runners and in 2008 sold out in just five days.

MCM weekend includes the Health and Fitness Expo, held at the Washington Convention Center October 23-24, MCM10K, Healthy Kids Fun Run, pasta party, and more.
