Registration Opens for Marathon in the Parks
From the official press release
April 1, 2003
Rockville, MD
For the Washington Running Report

Registration Opens April 1
Runners, April Fools Day is our traditional day to begin accepting registration for the Montgomery County Marathon in the Parks, and this year will be no different.

The Marathon in the Parks is the only major marathon in the Mid-Atlantic that is put on completely BY RUNNERS, FOR RUNNERS. The proceeds from this non-profit race benefit running trail improvement programs in Rock Creek Park and others, as well as youth running programs in Montgomery County. The administration of the race is done completely by volunteers who are all marathoners.

The Marathon in the Parks Web site has all the details for the 4th Annual Marathon in the Parks, which will be run on Sunday, November 9, 2003.

Register on-line on April 1st (or any time thereafter) using our secure server.

Also, on-line volunteer registration is already available.

The volunteer sign-up form is also a secure form.

We are an all-volunteer operation, and we need 800 volunteers to put on the race! So if you plan to run, ask your friends and family to volunteer.

We will have printed registration forms available on May 1st. If you would like to receive an entry form in the mail after May 1, please send your name and address to us at register@marathonintheparks.com.

Finally, we are always looking for leaders in the running community to assist with the very complex logistics of this race. Even if you have no experience with putting on races or administering running programs, please contact the race director directly if you are interested in learning more about participating on the Race Committee. Race Director Brian Tresp can be reached via e-mail.
