After the cancellation of the Washington DC Marathon, originally scheduled for March 23, Washington area runners banded together to run the race anyway. That effort was a testament to the spirit of the Washington area running community, and the Marathon in the Parks would like to honor those runners.

In association with Ashworth Awards of North Attleboro, Mass., we have commissioned a high-quality, heavyweight medal. This medal will be mailed to all official AND unofficial finishers of the Unofficial Washington DC Marathon. There will be NO COST for this medal to the runners. The Marathon in the Parks will underwrite the cost completely.

These are very nice medals. I think everyone will be really thrilled with the quality. We believe they are MUCH nicer than what you would have received if the race had not been canceled!

The medals should be ready within three weeks. If you finished the race, but are not on the official finisher list, please send an e-mail message and ask to be added to the recipient list for these medals.
