A Race for all Paces
It's registration time for the 2006 Susan G. Komen Breast
Cancer Foundation National Race for the Cure(R). The 17th
Annual
Komen National Race for the Cure 5K will be held on Saturday,
June 3 on the National Mall in downtown Washington, DC. An
expected 60,000 runners and walkers will gather to raise money
and awareness to fight breast cancer, celebrate survivors and
honor loved ones who lost their battle with breast cancer.Go to any of the One-Stop Registration sites in May to register
and receive your T-shirt and bib. Due to materials availability,
you will not be able to pick up your t-shirt and bib for
Sleep in for the Cure(R) ($40 always shipped) or
Komen Kids for the Cure(R) ($25 ship option only) at One-Stop
Locations. You can still register for these options, but your
materials will be shipped to you.

The always popular Komen National Race is a 5K run/fitness walk
to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research and
local education, screening and treatment programs. This family-
friendly event offers many exciting ways to support the fight
against breast cancer: --New this year, the Komen Kids for the Cure(R) Race gives
children
ages 5 through 10 a fun new way to get involved. The Race will
take
place at the National Race Expo Kids for the Cure(R) area on
Race
Day morning. For children 5 and younger, the Kid's Tent is back
by
popular demand with even more fun activities. --Participants of Sleep In for the Cure(R) can participate in
the
Komen National Race from the comfort of their own bed.
Participants who choose to hit snooze on Race Day will receive
a T-shirt, eye mask, special snooze Race bib and an official
Race bib. --Form a team with family, friends or colleagues. Last year a
record 1,067 teams helped make the Komen National Race even
more fun. Learn about how you can earn team prizes at the team
kick-off meeting April 19. The team sign-up form deadline is
April 28.

By registering for the Komen National Race for the Cure(R)
Washington DC, area residents are making a direct
contribution to their community. More than $1 million of the
Komen National Race for the Cure(R) 5K proceeds remain in the
metropolitan Washington, DC community - including Virginia
and Maryland. Local donations provide funding for breast health
and breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs
for the medically underserved. The remaining net proceeds
support cutting-edge breast cancer research through the Komen
Foundation Award and Research Grant Program.
Runners and walkers can register online, by mail, at one-stop
registration sites or at late registration. Entry forms are
available at several retail locations throughout the
Washington, DC metropolitan area. To register or get more
