About the Harris Teeter Presents YMCA Loudoun County Leesburg 10K/20K Race This year marks the eighteenth anniversary of the Leesburg 10K race, which is organized by the YMCA Loudoun County, a branch of the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington. Two years ago, the race committee added a new component, a 20K option. Runners will choose to run either 10K or 20K. Last year the event had more than 1,300 runners.

For more information or to register for the race, please see the race Web site.

The YMCA Loudoun County Leesburg 10K/20K continues to support four additional local charities, in the tradition of the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association, the originators of the race. Some of the race net proceeds are shared with Blue Ridge Speech and Hearing, ECHO (Every Citizen Has Opportunities), Loudoun County Adult Day Center, and Loudoun Interfaith Relief, Inc., all of which provide valuable services to the community and much needed volunteers to help with the race.

The YMCA Loudoun County has been serving the greater Loudoun County community for more than 22 years, providing quality childcare services and family programs. Through after school programs and summer day camps, the YMCA enriches the lives of more than 6,000 children each year. To make its services available to every child who needs them, the YMCA Loudoun County gave out more than $90,000 in financial assistance for its programs in fiscal year 2005. It is fundraisers such as the Leesburg 10K/20K which enable the Y to provide services for all of Loudoun County's citizens, regardless of ability to pay.
